The Chicco Next2Me Magic
This is one of Chicco's more expensive alternatives. However, it comes with a lot of amazing features. It's designed as a side sleeper or standalone crib and is suitable for babies up to six months. It is easy to open and close the side panel with the new mechanism. It's also more adjustable than its predecessor, with 11 different height levels as well as retractable feet for a secure installation under any bed.
Our testers were impressed by the ease of access provided by the side panel which can be moved upwards and down with a single push of a button. This was a huge benefit during night time feeds because it meant they could easily reach in and take their baby away without waking them up.
It is possible to lower the side panel itself but this is not advised, as it increases the risk that your child could be thrown out of the cot. However, the safety locking mechanism guarantees that it will only stay down when attached to the parent's bed correctly. This feature is fantastic for peace of mind if you're breastfeeding and require frequent feedings at night.
Telescopic legs permit the Chicco Next2Me Magic to be used with any bed, such as divan bases or beds with drawers. It also has a tilting function for babies with reflux and a rocking feature to soothe them back to sleep after feeding. It's also extremely large and has excellent ventilation thanks to its mesh sides.
Our testers found the Next2Me Magic easy to set up and use, although it comes with an extensive instruction manual. It is a little heavier than other side-sleepers, but it can still be easily moved from one room to another. It's also able to fold into a travel bag, which is great if you want to transport it. The only negative our testers have found is that the side panel didn't stretch as much as other models. This made it a little harder to see the baby from your bed.
